Closer to Home Campaign
We are excited to launch the Closer to Home Capital Campaign and invite our community to help create a place where compassionate hospice care is always close to home. Every family deserves the comfort of knowing exceptional end-of-life care is available close to those they love. Together, we will build a hospice where residents can live each day with dignity, families can spend precious time together, and our community can find comfort when it is needed most.
The following pages provide an overview of the campaign, opportunities to create a lasting legacy through naming, and the many ways your support can make a meaningful difference. We hope this information answers your initial questions and inspires a conversation about how you can help bring compassionate hospice care closer to home for generations to come.
Community Need
Families in Halton Hills and Milton currently have no local access to adult residential hospice care, often forcing them to travel outside their community during one of life’s most difficult times. This creates added emotional and practical strain when families should be focused on comfort, connection and every precious moment together. Our community has waited too long for compassionate end-of-life care close to home. North Halton Hospice will help close this critical gap by creating a place where individuals and families can receive the dignity, support and specialized care they deserve, right here in their own community.
Updated Renderings
The hospice design has undergone significant changes from the original concept and renderings developed several years ago. To help reduce the overall cost of the project and respond to rising construction expenses, the building footprint has been reduced by nearly 10,000 square feet and redesigned to use space more efficiently. While the updated design is more compact, the size and layout of the resident suites remain unchanged, ensuring that comfort, privacy and quality of care continue to be at the heart of the hospice. This thoughtful redesign will help make the project more financially achievable while allowing it to move forward with confidence.
Timeline
Our goal is to break ground on North Halton Hospice in Fall 2028. Construction is expected to take at least 18 months. These timelines are subject to change and depend on the continued generosity and support of our community to help fund the project and bring compassionate residential hospice care closer to home.
Ways to Give
There are many meaningful ways to support the Closer to Home Campaign. Donors may make a one-time gift, fulfill a larger commitment through a multi-year pledge, donate publicly traded securities, or explore planned and legacy giving options. A range of naming opportunities is also available, allowing individuals, families, businesses and community groups to create a lasting legacy while helping bring compassionate hospice care closer to home.
Donor Story – The Hole in the Donut
For too long, North Halton has been the “hole in the donut” when it comes to hospice care in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, with surrounding communities having access to residential hospice care while Milton and Halton Hills do not. Bradford, Jo-Anne and Donald Clements are helping change that by sharing in a generous $300,000 donation to North Halton Hospice, becoming the first family to name one of the ten resident suites. “Communities all around us have local access to this essential service, and now it’s time for Milton and Halton Hills to have the same,” say Bradford and Jo-Anne Clements. “We’re proud to help make this dream a reality by supporting the creation of a 10-bed hospice that will bring comfort, dignity and care to our community.” Donald Clements adds, “The community must come together for the good of all. No one should be alone at the end of life. May we live in peace and die in peace, knowing a difference we have made.”
